They Never Knew is a relatively short hardcover book about U.S. nuclear testing in the 1940s to 1960s (and beyond). It discusses the various tests, how they affected people nearby and far away, and government response to reports of health problems caused by exposure to radiation.


The book includes discussion of how nuclear bombs work and the politics of the cold war era.


They Never Knew is now out of print, but used copies are available at various sites on the internet.
